After one and a half year, my latest incarnation of Denon DP-80 has left the premises...
I have modified almost everything, but in the process got some new ideas as to what can still be done.
It has an external power supply where transformers and filtering has moved, a modified spindle/ball/thrust plate with damping weight,
a modified platter with different internal suspension, extra metal mat, custom periphery ring and record weight,a number of damping
agents added liberally throughout the original chassis...
All these fitted in a dedicated "plinth" out of CNC cut metals with some of my own ideas regarding vibration damping and absorption.
The tonearm base is separate (using the same method) with a top plate custom made for Kuzma 4Point arm.
All finished in auto motive paint and clear semi-mat lacquer.
It became a really heavy beast: about 60 kilos in main chassis, about 8 kilos rotating mass,10 kilos in the tonearm base and 6.5 kilos on the power supply.
Another blood sweat and tears story...
I cannot upload images for some reason but if you are interested you can watch it grow to the final result here:
