Update: This unit is more special than I thought.

The Sony will be on it's way to me soon. At the moment it is being packaged and prepped....it is perhaps the coolest thing I have ever bought in hifi.

It is a pleasure to be in contact with you Stan.

When the player arrives I will definitely take photos. This one is a keeper for a long time.

I am in contact with the owner through a friend. He worked in the broadcast industry and is now retired, I hope to make some good connections and find out more on the history of the 5000. If you or Axel have any questions you would like to ask let me know. They must be translated first.

I wonder if the 5000 has digital out?

YES !

Although I know I'll find some about the 5000 in the ES Review issues waiting in Japan, I never could locate any dedicated catalog for it, whether consumer or corporate, so images, detailed images, many detailed images would be quite welcome !!

Digital out... as far as I know it doesn't have any as that perspective still was blurred by the project of having graphics embedded in the CD format.

This must be the best find I have had in a long time...and it gets better. The guy selling it is not retired yet apparently. He is president of a big production and film company in Japan. If I understand the translations of my contact with him, he is also offering the seperate keyboard and CRT monitor, like in the pre-production prototype you photographed Axel!
