There were several series of MU power amps, most from the mid 1980s, some from the later 1980s and early 1990s, the latter including other pro/pa items such as mixers or cassette recorders (MU-D100).

The MU-A151 was made in a Foster Onkyo factory (http://www.foster.co.jp/en_corporateProfile/history.html) but if I remember correctly, the others weren't : MU-A301, MU-A201 and MU-A051.
I don't think any of the MU series got exported, at least not in significant numbers, but Sony broadcast literature is quite difficult to find (and get).

Somebody from Sony US got me details years ago about the "special circuit" inside the amps and who designed them... it must be somewhere in my correspondance archives.

More details :
I first see the MU series in 1982, with an overall StudioLabo tag, comprising very expensive elements such as digital mixer (195,000¥ !), 4-t cassette recorder, effects, loudspeakers, microphones and flight-cases.
It seems like a semi-pro lineup for 4-track home-recording.

The 051 has a JOLSON T-Tag (as in "you ain't heard nothin" yet ? ;-), the 201 Daichi TK (Sony factory), the 151 and 301 FEC T-Tags (Foster EleCtronics) ; the 401 I don't know.

That Jolson build contractor is so far completely unknown to me.
