Still Searching
I have been having quite a bit of fun in the last 6 months or so in my speaker quest , I tried Quad ESL 57's and 63's both were similar in character to Yamaha NS1000m's
but don't go as high or low , but there's something very nice about the midrange especially in the 57's sweetspot .
Both have come and gone as i dont really have the right room for panel speakers .
I have finally got my Sony ss-g7 working 100% after months of searching for tweeters a recap of the crossover and a nice cherry veneer job , they are huge, beautiful and they are really very good and can certainly show the Yamahas how a 15" woofer plays Nirvana and INXS, at the moment i'm keeping both .
I have a pair of Sony APM-77w's on their way from Germany that i just had to try , i think they're the only upper apm model that i'm ever likely to get to try out .
I hope they're as good as they look

Stick to the 1000Ms, if only because it's a sealed design and not a b/r :)

The 77W need a big overhaul to sound as good as their driver's design permit : filters, cabling, some enclosure bracing etc. Plus the surrounds, of course.
