I just bought a pair of these very nice spekaers.Knowing the serial number,can I find out in what year they were made?Because from 74 'till 95 it's a long time.
37966-this is the S.N.

The highest I did spot (without searching too far, then or now...) was 109661L / 109661R.
Early units use an "old style" font & stamp for the serials ; later ones use a more modern and printed s/n marking ; the switch seems to have happened around the vicinity of the #20000 neighborhood.

The bulk of the production (and sales) happened between 1974 and 1983.
There is no date indication in Yamaha's s/n system (unlike Pioneer's) but it is sequential and not market-organized (unlike Sony's).
Yours must be c. 1977 but it's impossible to be more precise. Or 1978, depending on the sales curve one can imagine without factual data :)

I don't know the total '74-'95 production run but quite probably have an indication of that in one or another Stereo Sound or Audio Accessory issue - no time to search for that bit of info however, sorry.
