Telefunken TLX 3

Rare, very rare four-way loudspeaker from the brand to which we owe magnetic tape recording (in 1935, when within the AEG consortium) and the PAL video format - among other things.

The TLX 3 looks like plastic... but isn't.
Not really, that is : the two front baffles are made of a carefully balanced blend of wood particles and glass-fiber for lowest resonance.
The 52L sealed enclosure is of regular wood particles, aka MDF, finished in matte black.

And if you thought the TLX 3 are self-powered because of the four LEDs - nope : these are just warnings that blink whenever your music is boosting too much over the 200W maximum input level.

The three top drivers have their voice coil floating in magnetic fluid, too, with special damping material between the magnets. The woofer is of the long-throw kind.

Anyway - very elegant.
And if these sound like the Grundig SL 1000 or 550 Professional... the TLX 3 must be worth a listen !
