Overshadowed by the later SL-1200 and its numerous versions, the SL-1100 was the original "integrated" sibling to the original SP-10 and its numerous versions.
Originally launched under the National/Panasonic brand, the tag was changed to Technics when larger amounts of Technics components started to appear outside Japan - very late in... 1973 !
There were two versions made : SL-1100 and SL-1100A with differences perhaps in the motor type (?).
The A version isn't documented at all in Japan and AC can clearly be seen penciled by the printer on image #3 here...
The SL-110 is an SL-1100(A) sans tonearm EPA-110 and with a blank or pre-drilled-for-SME wood armboard : SH-11P3W.
The EPA-110, beyond its starship design can track down to 5 grams - old world.
As all high-end Technics TTs, the base is a massive aluminium diecast piece, feet included. The optional SH-11B1 base gave the SL-1100(A) a more classic appearance but is very rare.
A cool feature of the 70s, the plug-in stroboscope was however still optional as well but fortunately not rare at all.
The SL-1100 pales in comparison of the SP-10 or SL-1200, especially by the (beautifully designed) EPA-110 tonearm, but it is a good "classic" winner with an SME tonearm, and remains as a little classic in hifi design, too.
