Technics SB-M5

1 9 8 2 1982
1 9 8 6 1986

Smaller version of the gargantuesque SB-M1 which previsible sold a little better... but not much at any rate : both the SB-M5 and its (much) bigger SB-M3 sibling are quite, quite rare.

25cm Bass
1kg/14,5cm magnet with linear damper ; high-efficiency polyimide voice coil and bonding

8cm Mid
wide-band piston with narrow gap ; 15,000Gauss

2,8cm High
wide-band piston / 35Khz response
16,500Gauss with square magnet for closer mounting to the mid driver ; and magnetic fluid in magnetic gap ; 160W resistance

Powerful magnets, low-distortion network, square br port, thermal protection circuit with LED warning, L/R paired units and cool blue looks - "Digital-Ready" and in sync with the emerging 1980s which turned out to finally be... quite traditional.
