Teac A-BX10

Teac always made audio separates -high and low- but seemingly never sold many of any of them.
The biggest push was in 1979 with the two Armonia (PA-7 and MA-7), followed throughout the 1980s by many somewhat low-end, ugly and probably rebadged things.

But Teac's success in the high-end CD department probably tickled one marketing executive into trying again to go for another high-end amplifier experiment.
This wasn't done in-house, at all, for it is Thule who designed and even built the BX10 in Denmark. Teac's catalogs or ads however do not mention this :)

So, enter the A-BX10 and... exit the A-BX10 which suffered the same fate as the Armonia combo or any other Teac receiver, integrated amplifier or tuner...
The BX10 was however later on updated as A-BX10MKII, a version about which little is known... as well.

Circuit-wise, the A-BX10 is symmetrical from top to bottom and the s-e inputs are immediately converted to balanced ; inputs are all selected through relays.
FET inputs with a current gain of 2 and a high CMR (Common Mode Rejection).

The big current amplifiers use a low-distortion cascode circuit and the global NFB loop is limited in its amount but aided by local, secondary, NFB loops.

3rd harmonics in the output stage are reduced in amplitude by lowering output impedance and not using NFB ; 2nd harmonics are nulled by the symmetrical circuit layout (?).

An optional PA-PB10 PCB could be installed into the A-BX10 to offer MM / MC vinyl replay in lieu of the "aux" input : symmetrical circuit again and low-noise FET inputs.

The A-BX10N is the champagne version ; the A-BX10B is the black version.

The A-BX10MKII will be posted separately... whenever a proper catalog can be found.

A real BX10 here.
