Great design tricks for a fair LP turntable.
A 1975 US ad placed it next to Sony's own 1966 TTS-3000 old-timer, saying that, no matter how perfect the TTS-3000 was, it was a little outdated and Sony engineers were perfectionists as well - enter the PS-4750 !
The air-filled platter cushions may remind of another contemporary turntable - more remembered because of its "higher-end" origins and all-metal looks. As on the old belt/servo TTS-3000 drive, the strobe of the PS-4750 is placed horizontally.
The 4750 was no match for Sony's contemporary higher end TTs (PS-8750 or its 1976 TTS-8000 bombastic version) but it had amazing looks, an attractive price and a fair quality.
Ranking third in the lineup when introduced, the 4750 would be disloged from that place in 1976/77 by the PS-4300, the latter being all too quickly replaced into the first "X" series from Sony : PS-X7 - all bestsellers, and all excellent record players.
The PS-4750 was released by WEGA as well, under the P-4410 moniker and in all black fashion.
