Sony CDP-X3000

October   1 9 9 5 october 1995

Part of the Series 3000.

The CDP-X3000 is the smaller integrated CD player of the series : no AES/EBU output or audiophile accessories made of inert materials available.
A smaller power-supply section and R-Core transformer, too, and if the front also makes for a thick 10mm extruded aluminium bingo, the sides are only pressed metal.

However, to make up for these downscaling, the CDP-X3000 sports a VC24 filter and its 4-position (non-audiophile :) LPF curves.

#1 : Standard
conventional digital filter - full feed-forward
wide range and expansion
(sharp LPF curve)

#2 : Spline
3rd order spline function - full feed-forward
smooth & clear soundstage
(soft LPF curve)

#3 : Plane
re-quantization noiseless filter - direct 8fs
vivid & powerful
(very soft LPF curve)

#4 : Analogue
7th order Butterworth filter - direct 8fs
warm & deep sound with feeling of atmosphere
(soft LPF curve)

Pick what you fancy or stay with the #1 standard which is that of the CDP-X5000...

Previsibly, neither the mechanism nor the optical laser pickup are equivalent with the CDP-X5000.
A typical Sony silliness about how to raise your productions costs for absolutely no reason :)
