Inaugurating the "modern" high-fidelity period, the EIGHT was export only as Japan only saw the SIX and SEVEN and certainly not the EIGHT DELUXE version.
FM
Low-noise dual-gate MOS-FETs with protection diodes for the two RF amps and mixer amp, 4-gang varicap, three differential IC IF amps with block filter, sharp cutoff 2-stage LC filter for the MPX section, muting switch, pantograph antenna and large dial scale.
PREamp
3-stage EQ amp emitter-to-emitter NFb (combining DC NFb and AC NFb) with low-noise transistors, 2-stage NFb control amp, low-distortion 2-stage emitter-to-base NFb triple tone controls and emitter-follower NFb low & high filters.
POWERamp
DC coupling of a 2-stage differential amp and +/- stabilized Darlington output stage, two 8000µF jumbo caps, jumbo (again) profiled & anodized aluminium side heatsinks, differential amp stabilizing circuit for protection with six quick-action fuses and SCR speaker protection.
Plus :
pre/power separation loop, three loudspeaker pairs' terminals, stereo balance check (with the help of the tuning meter), five independent & stabilized power supplies for the output, driver, control, head amp and tuner and a walnut enclosure with height adjustable legs.
The EIGHT DELUXE has a completely reorganized backplate, an added two-step phono loading back switch, a 4-channel adaptor box and a loop for noise-reduction devices - plus a front badge saying "Deluxe".
