Pioneer QX-949A

Quadrophonic surround receiver of the healthy years.

Like the confusing format(s) it could decode (or not) (or approximately), it wasn't necessarily successful, sales-wise.

But if the owner ignores the complex CD-4, SQ, QS and Matrix surround modes, then the QX-949 is a powerful receiver built to last a lifetime and surving five or six more format wars.

Internal views of the original Q-X949 you know where ; the beautiful original 1974 US sell-sheet for the 949, right here.

The 949 was reviewed in the april 1974 issue of AUDIO.
