Pioneer PL-L800

Pioneer PL-L800S

1 9 8 1 1981
1 9 8 3 1983

Nicely designed LP turntable from the short-lived "Communication Components" series from which the A-9 remains well remembered.
The L800 is a little sister of the PL-L1000.

The linear tracking tonearm is driven by a direct induction linear motor ; the wand is made of Polymer Graphite, a low-resonance material which Pioneer used extensively and almost everywhere throughout the early 1980s.

The drive system is of the Stable Hanging Rotor kind for a gravity center much closer to the platter.
The specifications are identical to those of the contemporary PL-88F - tangential tracking error excepted :)

Later briefly available in silver color : PL-L800S.
