Marantz Sc-11

Post- ESOTEC replacement to the Sc 1000 and inaugurating (among others) the fully 100% japanese Marantz - with some Philips in it :)

The CD input was a novelty, of course, but the Sc-11 retained the very low output impedance of its predecessor for a better amp control : 50 Ohm.
Sign'o'the times : the "direct" switch à la Yamaha isn't for LPs anymore but for the then-new Compact Disc.

Two production runs for the Sc-11 were (seemingly) made : one emanating from the non-descript "Marantz Japan" (common), and one from the "Kumamoto Marantz" factory (less common).
Awarded a "Best Product" tag in Japan in 1984 nevertheless but selling very little just the same.


"The Sc-11 has been designed to complement the highest quality sources available today such as compact disc or MC phono cartridges. The unit amplifier is designed for minimum use of negative feedback.

The phono equalizer of the NF-CR type, RIAA deviation is nil and the wideband overload character and transient response are further improved.

The DIRECT switch allows the signal to bypass even the balance control in order to go direct to the amplifier input and transit only through the volume control which is of conductive plastic type.

The output amplifier circuit operates in pure Class A. The tone control circuit is of low impedance negative feedback type for accuracy and high signal to noise ratio.

The entire circuits of the Sc-11 use push/pull configuration for low distortion and low noise. The circuit elements incorporate sound evaluated capacitors, metalized film resistors, low noise semi-conductors and glass epoxy PC boards.

The copper plated rear panel carries also a scope output."
