Marantz CD-80

1 9 8 9 1989
1 9 9 3 1993

Part of the "smaller" Philips/Marantz CD players of the good years, still made in Belgium... and assembled in Japan by Marantz Japan.

Therefore the product code is typically Philips : 74CD80/04B or 04G for the rare champagne version.

Despite the "small" listprice, half that of a CD-95, inside is full of treasures :
CDM1MkII Philips CDM drive, two TDA1541A S1 converters and a one-piece diecast chassis à la CD104 (with more holes in it, though), 3mm aluminium top and bottom plates, heavyweight diecast sideburns and solid aluminium feet.

...90,000¥ took you a long way in 1989.

The CD-80 sold extremely well and remained on sale much longer in Europe than elsewhere.

A real CD-80 here.
