From a rare series that boasted the ultimate (and useless, really) evolution of Luxman's traditionally sculptured design.
The left side borrows heavily from the contemporary Alpine part of Luxman : black with little black buttons, as on the K-05 / K-04 / K-03. Alpine however didn't own Luxman yet but it is probable those RX/CX/TX/GX/KX were all custom orders commissioned to Alpine by Luxman USA (and not Luxman JP).
The right side of the fascia moves forward at power off so that the five knobs can't be moved from their set position, and backward again at power on so that the owner can regain control over said knobs. That's Servo Face - expensive, sometimes mechanically problematic and really not a necessity in the end.
The series was export only, with three tape decks (KX-100, KX-101, KX-102), one tuner (TX-101) and one equalizer (GX-101) as well releaed throughout 1983. The tuner and EQ used the same chassis and did not sport the servo-face. The RX-102 lost some functions and power but remained basically the same component.
The extremely good-looking backlit perspex buttons did find their way into an even rarer series which seems to have been mainly US only circa 1984/85 : the MX-100, TX-100, CX-100, the latter being a relooked C-03.
Inside... still rather healthy but nothing to be compared to an L-100 or L-58A - lots of hectic cabling back and forth !
