preliminary
Luxman's most expensive preamp of the "classic" years that was to be fed by the updated M-4000A.
However, both vanished rather quickly from sight as they were both... old items from 1975. If the M-4000 was indeed updated in 1980, hence its added "A", the original C-5000 was prototyped and shown in late 1975 but didn't make the grade for whatever reason. Probably too expensive to make so the C-1000 took over, as derived from the L-100.
The original C-5000 looked very different, btw, much ahead of its '75 vintage. This explains the 5000's "A" although... it should have been "B", no ?
Anyway -
Super-gear with ultimate looks and build quality, strangely very quickly replaced in Japan by the C-300 & M-300 combo...
If Alpine still was three years away, Luxman never needed anyone to make quickly vanishing gems.
16-point frequency turnovers, 2-position filters, 6 or 12dB/oct. high cut filter, 50 or 100Hz low boost, 10 or 20Hz subsonic filter, Toroidal MC head transformer, Toroidal PT with L&R windings, easily serviceable separate boards, wood-enclosure.
According to well informed sources, this is a masterpiece.
A real 5000A here.
