Luxman C-120A

Luxman C-120A Mark II

1 9 8 0 1980
1 9 8 2 1982

Smaller siblings of the C-300.
Much smaller - in fact it can be seen as preview of the later C-02 (same specs), with the C-05 continuing where the C-300 left off.

Circuit-wise, this is all traditional Luxman : two Duo-ßeta loops (flat amp and EQ amp), FET differential inputs with cascode bootstrap, Class A SEPP low impedance output stage, constant voltage power-supply circuit, NF tone controls plus Linear Equalizer.

Added were deported shafts for reduced wiring and flat-cable for tape loops ; not yet inside were plus-X power-supply and Single-Stage circuit as in the L-430.

Cosmetically, there are two versions : one with shiny anodization and wood enclosure à la L-58A and one with matte anodization sans enclosure.
I believe the former to be the original and mainly destined to the USA market, the latter to be the later and destined to Europe.
Shiny+wood gives a rather welcome warmer appearance to the C-120A.

The C-120A and M-120A sold very well but were export-only : unknown in Japan.

The C-120A Mark II version eludes me : it is entirely identical to the original and has the exact same specifications. It seems to have been only available in Europe, shortly before the C-02 replaced the C-120A (Mark II).
