The grandaddy of 'em all - the most prolific OEM provider of the first generation.
Among its many clones, the DA-1000 could and still can be found under several brands and monikers :
Brandt DAD-001
Continental Edison DAD 9370
Denon DCD-2000
Dual CD 120
JVC XL-V1
Lo-d DAD-1100K
Nordmende ADS 2000
Pathé Marconi LA-10
Thomson AD100
As Hitachi is Lo-D in Japan, the Lo-D DAD-1000 is the japanese version of the export DA-1000.
Using any of these vertical players is a treat and brings a little of those 1960s portable LP players that would "eat" your disc to play it - amusing and a little slow, indeed, but much less cold and technoid.
There are two versions of the DA-1000 :
the first had a blue power-on button and an Hitachi HA16633P d/a,
the second version had it silver power-on button and a Burr Brown PCM53P.
That second versions is nevertheless named "DA-1000" just as the original...
Also available but very briefly : a wide glossy wood enclosure with a right spot hidden behind a smoked glass door to keep five CDs "inside" the DA-1000 :)
