European High Fidelity in all its 1975 glory, from one of Europe's MAJOR brand, just before the Japanese sledge-hammer industry settled in definitely.
The TS1000 was discreetely advertised in Japan but with an ultra price (500,000¥ - exactly like Philips' RH545) so I doubt it could ever sell significantly...
A semi-professional deck, the TS1000 could be used as a 2TR or 4TR deck with its interchangeable head-blocks.
The 4TR head-block allows for a switchable auto-reverse playback facility, the direction selector being located on the block itself.
The version 0, although never named like that, was presented at the 1975 Berlin Funkausstellung ; it had a very welcome brushed aluminium front instead of the production black.
The version II, although never named like that, took all of the original but switched available speeds up, up to 38cm/s.
It is just too bad that neither Grundig, Saba or Telefunken were able to maintain their position on the market for this was great gear, made by people who enjoyed striving to build it the best they could.
