Denon GR-535

1 9 7 8 1978
1 9 7 9 1979

Rare silver audio receiver with fair build-quality, 2x 100W output, a 4-gang tuner, two phono inputs and very elegant looks.
Completely different but contemporary of the PMA-850 and TU-850 series.

But as most receivers produced by japanese companies, this was export-only and, seemingy, not everywhere. These images come a 1979 german catalog but I have quite a few 1978 french (ugly) ads as well.

Bigger and even more rare was the GR-555 lineup topper which was part of the "power-rage" in receivers.

If housed in the very same enclosure, the GR-555 added turnover frequencies for the tone controls, meter functions (power output or tuner-related), more power and... Dolby FM !
