Akai GXC-570D

Part of the big ones and part of the very elegant ones, too, with the control panel inspired by that in Sony's TC-880-2 ;-)

The GXC-570D doesn't hold much when compared to a Nakamichi DRAGON for instance (at a roughly equivalent size & volume) but, still : GX heads and a huge 6-pole AC Servo motor with 77mm staggered oversized flywheels.

Nice touches : the pitch control and FF/REW speed control - no doubt the latter wound up quickly and always set at its maximum position !

The record head has gap, the play head gap. GX heads are a super-hard mix of glass and ferrite powder.

Add three beefy motors, three GX heads, Dual-Capstan and an everlasting quality typical of Akai's big units - the winning team for perfect cassette recordings !
