The SL-HF900 and later HF1000 were the lineup toppers of the improved SuperBeta HiFi and are much loved by their owners. Both versions proved to be the all-time Beta bestsellers.

If Betamax still was a serious contender in '86, at least for a 30% market-share, the trend would soon definitevely favor the dreaded (and dreadful) VHS. Market-wise, the later ED-Beta came too late to try and top JVC's S-VHS upgrade. Image-wise, of course, it was easy... but to no avail.
