Sony TA-4650
(october 1974 - 1978)

Despite V-FET's doomed existence in the market, the TA-4650 sold very well, almost as much as the later TA-5650.

However, this is the small one and it musn't be pushed beyond its power capacities.

As for the 5650 and TA-8650, the sadly famous diodes must be exchanged otherwise they will take the V-FETs away: the reliability problems many complained about at the time didn't come from the V-FETs but from those diodes - the V-FETs themselves are very sturdy. And they sound divine, even in the small TA-4650.

As all 1st generation Sony V-FET, do NOT use a variac
when powering the amplifier for the first time !
