And
now for something completely different: EMPIRE
!
Like
Napoleon's troops storming over Europe, the GRENADIER beams bass
tones over 360° and high frequencies over 140° thanks to
a divergent acoustic lens - Grenadiers are everywhere with their
hefty ceramic magnets.
The
Grenadier 9000M is also firmly footed
on the battle ground with its round, vibration-free, marble-topped
and unbending enclosure. Fitting smaller battlefields, the Grenadier
8000P bears the same high-frequency drivers and divergent
lenses but holds a slightly smaller woofer. Making up for that,
the design of the 8000P is quite reminiscent of a greek column -
the return of all Empires' solid and proven symbolical references
indeed :)
Empire
Scientific
had its heyday in the 1960s with the Troubadour turntables, Cavalier
and Grenadier loudspeakers - all heavyweights in weight... and decor.
Empire survived well into the 1970s, mostly with its cartridge and
stylus lineups, and later on faded into this
- empires never last as long as they would fancy to.
However,
Benz Micro took over the stock of Empire cartridges, know-how and
tooling and became one of the most recognized makers of high-end
audiophile MC cartridges - empire often change into something else
rather than completely disappear.
