Nakamichi RX-303
Nakamichi
RX-303
(1983 - 1992+)
Later,
less-remembered model than the ubiquitous Dragon
or, mostly, the 1000-ZXL.
The
RX-505 was nevertheless, and despite its gimmicky appearance and
operation, an updated Nakamichi masterpiece : updated drive, updated
electronics, updated... auto-reverse !
Like
on the contemporary Dragon
CT and TX-1000, instead of devising complex mechanical arrangements
to perfect auto-reverse, Nakamichi found a way to do away with the
inherent problems of the concept and had either the tape itself
turn around the heads (RX series) or the platter be nudged to avoid
off-center induced distortions and wow from LPs !
The
simpler, more direct loading and revised capstan is a preview of
that used for tha 1988 Nakamichi
1000 DAT recorder.
All
about Nakamichi and more Nakamichi right here
- you'll find the brochure, service manual and more which I thus
need no post here.
