Onkyo PX-100M
(1981 - 1987)

Just as in Kenwood's L-07D masterpiece, the platter IS the rotor.
In Germany, to prove that these were to be made on special order only, the little badges shown here were engraved with a "
Specially manufactured for A. Blankenburg by ONKYO Corp., Japan". None of the Onkyo catalogs I have says more (or less) than the other, let alone the address of Mr Blankenburg !

However, since I first posted this unit, I now know and have catalog images of several earlier versions of the PX-100M which started very much like a contemporary Micro Seiki with a separate tonearm base - an iteration of which you can see below. It then became a sort of "in-between" (with a custom dustcover) and then what you can see here above...
An x-rare item at any rate with a production run probably around 50 units which was very strangely extremely discreetely advertised in Japan. Somewhat like the contemporary Lo-D TU-1000 - also Micro-engineered.

Paul in the UK has found one in Germany. In fact, Paul has now two PX-100M, the restoration of the second being under way at the moment at Vantage Audio. There should be at least two others in France... and where are the remaining 46 ?

The ultimate version before the final design, from an x-rare french catalog. The control pads are not backlit but this is pure 100% Micro Seiki indeed.
