Philips CD960
(1987 - 1989)

Doesn't look like much, eh?
Well... it was very much: cutting edge and true high-end. For there's a TOS optical fiber output in the CD960, a nd very select parts, and an integrated amplifier for the cans' output, and dual 16bit Silver Crown DACs... minus the preamp/volume function and XLR outputs, the CD960 in fact holds a complete DAC960 !
And, better yet: there is a CDM-1 mechanism in this very 1980s-ish design.
Praised as Absolute Spitzenklasse and Referenz in Germany in 1987.
As a drive I bet the CD960 still is at least that much.
