Grundig
CD-9009
(1989 - 1990)
Grundig's
last stand: the "Fine Arts"
series. With a tacky black&gold finish applied to top-end units
like a DAT recorder, high-end tuner, lavish turntable and more.
The CD player boasted an alphanumeric display, a jog for the variable
search and pitch functions, a strict dual-mono layout, a copper-plated
chassis, two transformers and even balanced outputs! And Philips'
traditional FTS system. If the chips were a mix'n'match between
Sony and Philips, it is Philips who took the lion's share with a
pair of TDA-1541A
S1
DACs. Not to mention the everlasting Philips
CDM-1 mechanism - luxurious indeed.
All units from the Fine Arts series
seem to have sold very little... Any CD-9009
owner care to comment ?
