Technics
SV-4100
(1994
- 1999)
The
ultimate version of Panasonic's professional DAT master
recorders. Used in many a studio and still sought after for both
its mechanical reliability and sound quality.
If
the mechanism is the same as in the previous SV-3700
/ SV-3800 and their consumer versions
(Technics SV-DA10
and SV-D900),
the digital-to-analogue section was upped to 20-Bit
resolution and, mostly, this is a studio deck : up to 5 sync
modes, a really precise locate function and frame-accurate, RAM-loaded
quick-start function. Exit the less than perfect L/R balance record
input pot, enter two separate L and R input pots !
Unveiled
at the same time was the SV-3900, a
remote-controlled version that can be daisy-chained up to 32 decks
through an ES-bus and controlled by the optional SH-MK390
controller. The a/d section for all of these is the same 1-Bit MASH/64fs
and really excellent.
