SU-8600
Technics ST-8600
(1975 - 1978)
Six
independent heavy-gauge windings, constant current structure, two
15,000µF caps for the SU-8600.
Differential amp, modified SRPP and low-noise transistors make the
phono stage. Differential amp, emitter-follower, voltage amp and
independent stabilized power supplies make the output stage. Current
mirror circuits are used in the first stage, diff. amp stage and
3-stage tone control circuits.
Flat
group delay ceramic filters, 8-gang capacitor (5 for FM, 3 for AM),
two-step muting and direct FM-to-tape recording for the ST-8600
tuner. FM-to-tape means that the play/rec tape terminals are on
the ST-8600 to bypass the amplifier loop ; the pre-emphasized broadcast
signal is recorded and played back through the tuner's de-emphasis
circuit to recover the original flat response.
Solid
silver chunks of 1970s hi-fi with excellent industrial design wich
Technics sadly turned to brownish matte black in 1977, swapping
the warm wood for optional rack adaptors.
