Sony TA-70
Sony ST-70
Sony SS-70

Rare 1970 set of of little separates - the decade is in their name.

Nothing spectacular here - just cute little components which served as previews of what was to come in higher end (Precise P7 or Falcon) or portable end (FH-7, aka Heli). Of course not as well remembered as the famed "88" : TA-88 & ST-88.

The TA-70 is a 3,8kg low-noise SEPP-OTL with a tape loop for easy connection of a 4-channel matrix decoder, 2x 30W of "dynamic" power (2x 8W between 20Hz and 20kHz) and a switch to select ceramic or magnetic phono cartridges.

The 2,8kg AM/FM ST-70 has a FET front-end, solid-state IF filters and AFC function.

The SS-70 is a 1,9kg two-way acoustic suspension with a 13cm woof and a 6cm cone tweeter. All are finished in teak veneer.

Recommended partners : SQA-200 4-channel adaptor, TC-117 and PS-5011 (UK) or TC-121 (USA). Later joined in a few markets by the similarily 33cm dimensioned TA-73 & ST-73.

As contemporarily tagged by VolksWagen : small is big. Perhaps more precisely : small is big enough for most people :-)
