Sony TAN-8250
(1975 - 1978)

Looks like a V-FET amp... but it ain't.
Housed in the chassis of the TAN-8550 allright, but with a power limiter... because the TAN-8250 can become a 500W monoblock !
A very rare unit, sporting the amazing PPM meters and companion to the TAE-8450. If Sony were to release the PPM meters today as pro studio accessories, they would sell like hotcakes. I've used many different meters in many different studios and Sony's 1974 PeakPowerMeters are by far the best and most easily readable of all.

Besides the great PPM meters, the 8250 sports the same input selector (either DC or with a low-pass cutting below 20Hz - seems a little high btw) and the output volume pot for the "B" speaker pair as the V-FET TAN-8550.
