Sony
TA-2244
Sony TA-2240
(july 1970 - 1974)
Early and very rare QUAD preamplifiers
with a twist : a delay line !
Said
delay incorporates professional electret condenser microphones and
a dynamic driver unit in its air pipe.
The delay is then sent to the rear speakers' outputs to create reverberation.
User-adjustable with three delay times, both TA-2244 and TA-2240
allow for the listener to access exciting
and realistic concert hall sound.
The
TA-2244 provides front and rear signals
; the TA-2240 only provides rear signals
so it is more of a Quad adaptor than a full standalone preamplifier.
Made
to be mated with four SS-9500
"bongo" omnidirectional loudspeakers, two TA-3200F
powerhouses and the TC-366-4, a Quad version of the TC-377
bestseller (named TC-6364 in Japan).
The
TA-2240 can be used a Quadradial supplement
to the TA-2000.
A
polishing cloth was delivered along, to keep those sonic bolids
all excitingly shiny.
