Here is the first APM loudspeaker: APM-9
Pretty similar, but different :-)

This image was found in the 1978/79 USA Sales Brochure, printed in late '78. The presence of the ESPRIT tag on this unreleased pre-production unit proves that the ESPRIT brand was in the works quite earlier than the official launch during the summer of 1979. The mid '78 prototype images of the APM-8 I have also show the ESPRIT tag.
I was told there are two pairs of APM-9 in France, still working and with no surround problems...
