Sony PS-X555ES
(1983 - 1992)

The only ES-tagged turntable, available for almost 10 years but only to see the demise of the LP standard...

Gone with it would be Sony's expensive effort on the Biotracer arm which market-wise never really made the grade, even if the horribly expensive 1978 PS-B80 sold in fact quite well.

The PS-X555ES record player used a tangential version, rather different from the 1977/78 original design and different as well from the one used in the 1981 PS-X800. Whatever the brand or technology, tangential groove reading never really made the grade either btw...
