Lady
Sam(sung)
In
november 1979, Sam was hot - very hot.
Teenage
style with a red french beret, red, green and short overalls, young
Miss Sam, born in Seoul, Korea,
only had portable radios to offer. Not much to sustain the chili
pepper zest... Not much volume in a radio, either - barely enough
to hum along. But the days of exporting dried
fish and groceries were well behind.
And think of all the other products Miss
Sam already was designing and building for others ! If
Miss Sam's red hot presence didn't mean much to the wide public
audience then, it was starting to get noticed by the professional
circuit.
Pushing
her ferocious ambition, taking advantage of other people's mistakes
and blank moments, Miss Sam managed to go through a few stock-exchange
adventures, some fruitful marriages and several surprising engulfments.
And Miss Sam became the respected
Mrs Sam.
Still only humming, though - and still oh so discreetely. Humming
nevertheless : she would engulf and eat and absorb even more and
all from little Korea. Ah ! Only but a few were willing to believe
her... But many would soon be forced to sign contracts with Korea's
red hot rising star.
In
march 2008, celebrating her 70th birthday, having eaten just about
everything and everyone, Lady Sam
does weigh on the market like very few do. Lady
Sam has gained some weight, for sure - but what a pair
of alluring eye-cast eyes ! Those that used to distribute Miss Sam's
not-so-hot products have all vanished into oblivion and the lively
Pioneers, the friendly Sonus tribe and the Tree'O people have stopped
their snickering for they fear they could be next. In hope of avoiding
the worst, the Sonus chief even stopped waving its famed Trini-Tron
totem and the Pioneer people joined hands with the Sharper people.
Surprising moves but, alas, all to no avail.
Modern
devices full of complex and micrometric circuits now sing the tune
Lady Sam sung in her youthful
and uncertain days. Uncertain ? No, not really : Korea's Red Hot
Sam always knew she'd eventually win many hearts, many factories
and all five continents.
