Stereo
#2
1978
Here
is the cover of one of the myriad of audio-oriented japanese magazines
published throughout high-fidelity's heyday. I have never seen issue
#1 of Stereo, nor issue #3 but now own issue #2.
Stereo
was much more music oriented than Stereo
Sound or even Audio Accessory
so most of the pages are dedicated to record reviews (jazz, classical
& pop), concert reviews and interviews. The majority of the
ads are in black and white while a few DIY projects are proposed
along about fifty component reviews. 320 pages in toto !
The beautiful A-0012
image you can see in TVK's Pioneer
section section comes from this magazine.
Well
photographed here is the Yamaha
PX-1, an x-rare monster of sensible electronica which was launched
a few months before Stereo #2. However, this doesn't mean Stereo
#2 holds a 10-page review of the PX-1
or a dedicated ad, let alone detailed "nudie" views...
Quite confusing with japanese mags: it isn't because a component
is on the cover that you'll find something -anyhting- about
it inside !
This is the best image of the PX-1
I have found so far as it seems Yamaha didn't care much about how
it was presented in its own catalogs... The external power-supply
of the PX-1 isn't shown but the record
being played is "Burbank - Home of the Warner Bros. Records".
