Pioneer : 1983

Probably one of the catalog covers that made many a 1983 daydream for me...

For one, I couldn't believe Pioneer dropped the "Communication Series" looks to go back to big knobs and switches - really seemed like a backward move. The later 1980s, would however develop that bis-repetita trend, in spades. Second, I still didn't have enough money to buy an A-80 or CT-A7 - hence the daydreaming :)

But what puzzles me now, in retrospect, is that bar the red laser beam, there isn't a single Photoshop touch up here. There actually was a time when photographers could do a real job, even faking perspectives with the use of smaller accessories and spending a hell of a day (and night) lighting said accessories. I'm not saying the photographer who made the image above did it as well as was possible but, still - gone-by days, isn't it ?
