Marantz SLT-12
(1963 - 1969?)

Those who have seen one please raise your hand !
OK, never mind.

Not the 1st linear tracker (cutting lathes were !) but the earliest remembered. We're here far from the musicality and reliability of a Sony PS-X800 or Yamaha PX-2 or Pioneer PL-L1 but - hey... 1963 ! No ICs here - all mechanics.

The oldest mention I could find of the SLT-12 is dated winter 1965, the round picture as well as the specs come from a French catalog dated may 1966 (actually a 1967 reprint of a may '66 review) ; the Marantz SLT is however older as the project started when Saul Marantz still was at the helm, in 1963.

More data you know where, with a few differences in the specs.
A color photograph right here, along lots of very informative info on other tangential turntables.
