A stylish example of mid 1970s heavy-handedness in design and features : more knobs and functions than necessary but all that was necessary to receive Dolby FM.

And to EQ one's tapes with the included three-way tone controls, 400Hz tone generator and rec/play calibration pots.

Or filter them.

Or filter the remote speakers.

Or mix in microphones.

Or nothing of the kind : leave the frills out of the signal path and the Model 3800 will remind you, vivdly, of hi-fi in 1975.
