SQ-38D
(1964 - 1965)

"Released in 1964, the original SQ-38D became so popular that at the time it was synonymous with hi-fi amps. 12AX7 and 12AU7 tubes are used in the first and driver stages respectively. Output tubes are 6BQ5 [6RA8 originally], while the power transformer is OY-14 type.
The number of inputs is increased to five to accomodate a greater number of sources available today, but the functions and basic design are the same as the original masterpiece.

Does anyone know who designed the SQ-38D and its WZ-30 tuner companion?
