Luxman
PD-300
(1980 - 1983)
Luxman's
original "affordable" VDS turntable, which would be followed
by the PD-350 and a few other versions
- all built by Micro
Seiki.
Following
that manufacturer's evolution back to belt-drives, the PD-300
is belt-drive, as was the earlier PD-555.
The PD-300 has a built-in VDS air pump
but can receive an optional, external, supplementary VDS - to really
bond platter and record together...
However, as many tests show, the VDS system (or JVC's Turbo),
the results are often somewhat... marginal.
The
rest of the PD-300 is pure Micro-Seiki
and doesn't call for particular comments, except for exceptional
buil quality and lavish Luxman looks. Only the handle at the front
to activate the VDS, is a bit... oversized.
The PD-300 was made to be mated with
the C-300
and M-300
combo.

1981 Stereoplay issue ; I have a catalog as well but
it isn't as detailed as this publication.
