Luxman LX33
(1979 - 1984)

Part of the myriad of Luxman vacuum tube integrated amplifiers - with a twist: non-tube looks, matte sub-panel and coloured LEDs ! Much closer to later LUXKIT units than a regular SQ-38FD. The Luxkit A505 in fact took much of the LX33 in looks but in mid-size format... and price.

Luxman insisted that, while many kinds of solid-state devices came and went, vacuum tube, left for dead fifteen years before the LX33... was still alive, unharmed by solid-state's passing fads. This call -twenty-five years after the LX33- sounds quite prescient : tubes are still around with many 6CA7s and 12AX7s still making music for the pleasure of our (educated) ears.
