Luxman L-540
(1990 - 1994)

Luxman's last really successful integrated ampllifier. Successful here is meant market-wise - sound-wise, the L-540 was here and there tagged as "reference", "absolute" or "State of the Art", thus topping the already very successful line that started under the Alpine days with the L-550 series.

The L-540 and L-570 are visually identical but for the 2nd pair of speakers and the phones output which the 570 omits. The L-570, however, offers 2x 50W in Class A while the L-540 is of the "sliding bias Class AB" type with the first 10 or 15W in Class A. Both benefit from superlative comonentry, a non-resonant chassis, double Heat-Pipe cooling systems and a superb rosewood case. Feature-wise: the Line Phase sensor, a processor loop, separate inputs for MM and MC, a balanced input and LUX's typical "tilt" tone compensator.
Still to come was the ultimate L-500 before Luxman's change of ownership.
