Luxman C-06
Luxman C-06a

Luxman's last really successful preamplifier. Successful is here meant market-wise: like the original C-06 version (1988), the C-06a and its mating amp (M-06/a) sold very well in Japan between 1991 and 1993. Luxman then changed ownership...

Sign of the times, the C-06/a is a line-level preamplifier: if provision is made for a phono input, the latter needs an exernal head-amp/step-up to become "phono functional". Sign of times too, balanced input and outputs are present, along positive / negative phase RCA outputs - full-size quadri-amping is at hand !
Another feature, besides exceptional build quality, is the extremely low output impedance: 8 Ohm (RCA) and 16 Ohm (XLR).

Along the contemporary and bigger M-07 and C-07, the C-06/a is part of the last units designed by the "old" Luxman staff which, by the mid 1990s, would undergo changes aplenty to fit Luxman's new horizons. Yet to come was the huge C-10, its Ultimate Attenuator... and pricetag.

Much more very soon about both versions C-06 and C-06a from the original japanese catalogs !

This post will be updated later on with the real technical meat which at the moment awaits translation from japanese to english.
