Kenwood
L-08C
Kenwood L-08M
(1981
- 1982)
Tabula rasa -
the future starts now.
And the japanese ads said it loud and clear : "Period."
Well, sort of: what was in them L-08
units wasn't all that new but for the alpha-numerical display :)
The fader system only is a less abrupt muting switch - here less
tacky than on the KA-1000
and KA-900 as
it is not backlit.
Among the numerous features are strictly selected parts, non-magnetic
die-cast aluminium chassis, DC structure from top to bottom, 4-way
parallel differential MC section, Class A preamp stages etc etc
Prefiguring a Mission/Cyrus or Naim staple, the L-08M
blocks could receive a supplementary and external PS to jack up
the 08M's 520VA transformers to a whopping
780VA. Per block! This L-08M
PS doesn't seem to have been
available outside Japan and there seems to have been a dedicated
L-08C PS as well.
I unfortunately have never heard or even seen these units but I
sure would like to !
