Kenwood KA-1000
(1981 - 1982)

No need to present this well remembered piece of sci-fi-esque design.

Powerful, very powerful, tight, very tight with Sigma Drive and a double Haet-Pipe to keep everything cool.
The non-magnetic chassis always is a suprise to discover "in the flesh"... it is made of plastic ! That explains the somewhat sloping parts one can see in the catalogs - plastic doesn't like heat nor does it age well.

But the KA-1000 was a fine example of high-end HiFi navigating between the 1970s robustness and 1980s trendy trends.

The top images come from the original 1980 japanese catalog ; the one to the right from a contemporary german catalog that had truly lavish photographs interspersed between ugly layouts and badly printed cutout packshots ; the one below from a lesser german catalog.
