POA-8000
(1981 - 1984)
Extremely rare monoblocks which were scarcely distributed outside
Japan and which didn't seem to sell much there either, although
awarded Stereo Sound's "Best Product" and "State
of the Art" awards...
200W in (somewhat sliding) Class A aided by "futuristic"
looks, the 8000 was meant as absolute-above-the-POA-3000
bestseller ; it was partnered by the similiarily designed PRA-6000
preamplifier and replaced by the much more successful (and much
cheaper) POA-7700, POA-6600
and POA-4400 monoblocks. According
to a french reseller who had a pair sleeping in his inventory, the
POA-8000 was one of the best amplifier he'd ever heard...
These
images come from a 1980 japanese ad (top), a 1980 Stereo Sound "Best
Product" section (above + details) and a US catalog provided
by Henny de Lange (specs and circuit descriptions).
More about the POA-8000 can be read at Denon's own website
; more can be seen right here.
